Machine gun bunkers

Meters walking underground
BACK ON THE FRONTLINE OF WORLD WAR ll
Kyiv’s south frontline was supposed to stop Nazi troops on their way to conquer the Soviet Union. Huge machine gun bunkers with underground connections were built within just few months in 1941 and became the site of one of the bloodiest battles between the Soviets and Nazis during World War ll, and where the Red Army was defeated. The Nazis then occupied Kyiv and moved on Moscow.
The bunkers you will visit were not enough to stop the well-equipped German army with panzer tanks. Bullet holes, monuments, and collapsed parts of tunnels are witnesses of the sad history of the defeat of Kyiv’s defence. Walking through machine gun bunkers one of which has a museum, together with listening to stories from the war will give you goose bumps as you imagine how you would feel and act under those circumstances.
Would you be a hero protecting your motherland or be a candy ass and run away from the trenches? Visit the hidden bunker system with those who uncovered it, listen to historical curiosities and what the life of a soldier was like. You will also witness a unique bunker standing on the water. This tour is a great accompaniment to another World War ll tour: The secret tunnels of Kyiv.
