Ready to nuke the world?

At the time of Cold war era, the Soviet army had in the sky few types of heavy bombers that represented a threat to NATO. They were ready – at any time - to launch cruise missiles to various targets. Times had changed and you can now visit what only Soviet army elite pilots flew - the Tu-95 “Bear” and Tu-160 “Black Jack”. These “kings of the sky” are still in use by Russia and even nowadays are ready to break the peace – if needed. The Heavy Bomber Tour is the only way to learn more about these Cold war juggernauts in their home base - 185th Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment in Poltava city. This airfield is one of the oldest in the former Soviet union and one of only 3 where there were American flying fortresses  B-17 located (and 63 destroyed by Germans) during World War ll. Nowadays it is the one and only place in the world, where the Soviet aircrafts – cruise missile carriers - are shown to foreigners.

CHERNOBYLwel.come gives you the possibility to explore the Tu-95 and Tu-160 – strategic bombers, Тu-16 – the first Soviet jet bomber, Тu-22К – the first Soviet supersonic bomber and Тu-22М3 which was based there at the time of the Cold war, and to have access to most of their cabins. All the aircrafts were carriers of nuclear weapons and some of these types were used during Soviet nuclear tests which led also to some pilots casualties. Take your place at the cockpit and imagine how a pilot would feel - ready to launch nuclear missiles at any moment!
